PROJECT Overview
For this project, I was tasked with designing a calendar app from the ground up that addressed real user frustrations with current digital planners. Through a series of multi-stage interviews, I identified a key problem: Users need a way to see their week from a bird’s-eye view while also having multiple, low-effort ways to input tasks beyond typing everything manually. Many participants expressed that having to type every entry made them feel unmotivated and less likely to keep their calendar updated, which ultimately impacted productivity, organization, and their sanity. This insight shaped the core challenge: how might I design a calendar experience that feels simple, intuitive, and motivating to use daily?
To address this, I developed NUDGE, a streamlined calendar app centered on simplicity, ease of use, and multi-choice functionality. I created multiple personas to ensure the app could serve a broader range of users while still feeling focused and minimal. From there, I mapped user flow diagrams, built wireframe structures, and developed high-fidelity prototypes that prioritized clarity over decoration. The interface was intentionally bare-bones, removing unnecessary graphical elements that could distract from viewing the schedule. I also integrated a dual-notification ping system that alerts users both when to begin an assignment, and when it is due, directly responding to user feedback about accountability and time awareness.
The final result is a warm-toned, thoughtfully structured calendar experience that stands apart from the typically cool, blue-heavy interfaces common in productivity apps. Based on user input, I implemented a warm color palette to create a more inviting visual environment while also reducing blue-light exposure. Through research-driven decision-making and iterative design, NUDGE transforms calendar management into a frictionless habit rather than a chore. The project demonstrates my ability to synthesize user research into actionable design solutions, create cohesive systems from concept to prototype and design with both emotional experience and functionality in mind.
